Nguyen Thi Thuy is a blind music student at the prestigious Ha Noi Conservatory. Until recently, she and her classmates shared the only available tam thap luc , a 36-string instrument played by Vietnamese musicians for centuries.
CHEER provided the class with additional instruments at a cost of about $90 each and hopes to make additional gifts so that each student will have his or her own instrument by 2004.
